'FOR ALL WE KNOW' EUROPEAN SUMER TOUR 2010
José James and Jef Neve have been on tour in Europe, second half of July, presenting their duo album, 'For all we know'. The tour started in Perugia (Italy) on the beautiful Umbria Jazz festival: they played in a beautiful old church in the middle of the city center. Next day they travelled to Paris to do some interviews and a live set was recorded by RTL. Next stop was the Nice jazz Festival. This time they did the 'Facing East' - project (hommage to John Coltrane), with the quintet. Jef had the chance tomeet Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, John Mclaughlin and Christian McBride. No need to tell that he had the time of his life! Then the duo continued the tour in Finland, on the Pori Jazzfestival, and then headed to Sweden to play 3 concerts as a support act for Melody Gardot: Stockholm, Gotheburg and Bastad. The setting of those concerts was always great: open air, beautiful royal parks and castles,... Good vibes!

" JEF NEVE TRIO - debute in SOFIA (BULGARIA) The trio was invited in Sofia by the Belgium Ambassy: lot's of european ambassadors and even the former king of Bulgaria attended the concert. This was a great preparation for the next recording of the new trio album, expected in september 2010."

The repertoire is a reflection on what they recorded for the new Impulse record 'For all we know'. The first day in New York, Jef catched up with his good friend Gabriel Rios, and they decided to play an intimate concert in the Rockwood Hall. The day after José and Jef travelled to Washington DC to play at the Blues Alley. The trio played their first concert in the Tchech Republic on the 31th of May. The venue turned out to be a magnificent place where all kinds of music has been performed yet: from classical quartets over rockbands to jazztrio's: improvisation is the key word for this festival. The renewed trio (with Ruben Samama on the basss) has been received on a warm appreciation of the audience. It was all together a beautiful experience!

It was the first time that the trio played in China. This was again an amazing sensation. The band (still with Piet Verbist) first played two concerts at the World Expo in Shangai. Afterwards they played another concert in a great venue in Guangzhou, located in a beautiful park just out of the city centre. They were invited by the consul of Belgium, a charming man with a talented 4-years old son showing his view on jazz! China was allover: shure you feel there's something in the air; people want to discover new music, and participate active in the scene. The tour was organized by Jef Vreys, a young guy who is a promising man for bringing foreign bands to China."

Two days later Jef played in Bray, a beautiful little town at the Irish Coastline, together with Pascal Shumacher, presenting their 'Face tot face' album (Enya). They openend for Brad Mehldau's man on the bass, Larry Grenadier and the Austrian guitarplayer, Wolfgang Muthspiel.

The day after, the duo played in one of the most prestigious venues of Vienna, the Konzerthaus. "

TOUR LITUANIA & POLAND NOVEMBER 2009
The trio was invited in Vilnius on 25th of November, to play their first concert in Lithuania. Two days later, the trio played their debut for the Polish Radio 3 in Warsaw. Next day they played on the piano jazz festival in Kalisz: Jef was delighted since the piano provided by the organization was a brand new Steinway D, used only for the second time! The last concert of this tour was set in Rybnik, a beautiful venue! It must be said that the audience in both countries was terrific: people gave standing ovations, and the energy that the band received every time they were on stage, was more than a welcome compensation for the exhausting travelling. In other words: this was an inspiring trip! "

KEMPEN (D), May 2009
The trio was invited in Kempen (Germany) to play a concert on the 18th of May.
The venue turned to be a rather small one, but with a very enthousiastic audience! And, it was Dieter's (the soundengineer of the trio) 30 th birthday: so in any way a rather special day in a trio's life:-)!

BONN (D)
The 'Jef Neve - Pascal Schumacher duo' played a concert in the concerthall of Beethoven's 'Geburtshaus' in Bonn. No need to tell that the composer's spirit was inspiring to them. On top of that the instrument (Steinway D) was one of the best instruments Jef ever played on: perfectly adapted to the acoustics of the hall. Jef and Pascal didn't play for more then 6 months together, and that resulted in a fine discovery of each others new musical insights and energy. The duo will record an album for Enya records at the end of this summer.

MADRID (Sp), april 2009
The trio was invited in the concerthall of the Juan Carlos de Amberres foundation. Among all paintings you'll find an original work of Rubens (cruxifiction of Saint Andreas). The concert was one to never forget in different ways: during the first song, Piet's bass broke down, wich resulted in an enormous BANG! Luckely he managed to repair the instrument on the spot, but the atmosphere was from that moment on simply hilarious! This happened during a song called 'The space we need'. Afterwards Jef decided to give the song a new title: 'The Bass we need'. But the audience was great again. Spain has always had a remarkable attraction to Jef, and you could hear the man was touched by the spririt of what surrounded him.

AMSTERDAM (Nl), april 2009
Sometimes you're just amazed by the impact of a venue. Such was the case for the trio when they played in the 'Concertgebouw' in Amsterdam in april. The concerthall is covered by the names of all big European composers such as Bach, Mozart, Schumann, Beethoven,... The acoustic is rather designed for classical concerts, but it gave the trio the chance to play in a slightly different way, using the natural reverb of the place. The concert was recorded by radio6. Big was their surprise when thousands of people started to clap on the 'shabi' (typical Moroccan rythm patern) which is used in the
'Nothing but a Casablanca Turtle Slide Show Dinner'-song! The festival gives the opportunity to European musicians to hook up with local artists, which gives a particular flavour on the whole concept. It has to be said that the organisers were extremely friendly and handled a high professional standard: the ideal situation for artists to be creative and feel comfortable. Among the artists people could enjoy the performances of Bobo Stenson, Ghani Krija (percussionist of Sting, Herby Hancock, Chick Corea,...), Tomasz Stanko, Erik Truffaz and others."

"The trio played the cd-release concert in Germany on the 16th of May in the "Quasimodo Club" in Berlin. They met some really nice people over there: Giorgio, the owner of the club, and Christina, the lady of Universal Germany. The concert was recorded by the radio and will be broadcasted in the future. They had a great time being in this amazing city. The trio had the chance to take a day off and visited the main tourist-highlights such a the 'Brandenburger Tor', the 'Reichstag' andsome remaining parts of 'the wall'.

The concert was set in the beautiful 'Fenice' theatre in the old centre of Venice.
This concert was a real succes, due to the lovely organisation of the 'Veneto jazz Festival'. The trio had a great time being in this magnificent town and playing for this warm-hearted audience."
