Jef decided to quit the Pascal Schumacher Quartet after five years of collaboration. This decision is not based on artistic differences, however it is a decision made out of pratical reasons: agenda’s no longer coincide since Pascal Schumacher signed for ENJA, a great record label for jazz productions, in June 2008. He really earns this after years of musical development and research. No disappointement however because Pascal and Jef decided to continue as a duo (and it seems that they are both more motivated than ever to explore the musical boundaries).
On wednesday the 2nd of April, my producer for my radioshow, and very good friend, Miel Vanattenhoven has passed away. He gave my trio the chance to grow because he believed in our music. He programmed us several times on the Middelheim jazz festival in Anwerp. Miel was also a great person: he knew the jazzscene like no other, and he understood how to treat musicians well. But in the first place he was a true and honest person, with great humour and always ready for a good conversation a good joke. I'll miss him with all my heart. Jef X
